According to Sandy McGivern on the prominent ‘Shifting to 21st Century Thinking’ education blog, she created and spearheaded ‘NZC in Action’ – a personal development day designed to bring together educators developing new curriculae and who are interested in 21st century teaching ideas.
Instead of having a single lecturer speaking to the audience, the day featured an innovative format – five clusters of tables with five different presenters, allowing a lot of discussion based on open-ended questions.
The event was held on November 26 and was a huge success, with response surveys indicating an overwhelming desire for more such events in the future. About a dozen presenters ended up taking part, talking about topics ranging across a wide range of innovative new educational ideas.
