A relatively new blog titled ‘Dad on Fire’ was created by Tucson architect and community activist Bill Ford as his project when he took part in Landmark Education’s Self-Expression and Leadership Program this year. Dealing with substance abuse by his children, Ford decided to do something to make a difference in his community beyond even just his own family by creating a blog that publishes important information and discussions about addiction. Ford says that Americans are exhausted by the War on Drugs, and are more interested in fostering an atmosphere of compassion and recovery rather than believing incarceration is the only answer. In Tucson in 2003, for instance, 73% of those arrested tested positive for drugs.
